Network of co-expressed circadian genes, childhood maltreatment and sleep quality in bipolar disorders

چکیده
Bipolar disorder (BD) is a chronic and burdensome psychiatric disease, characterized by variations in mood energy. The literature has consistently demonstrated an association between BD childhood maltreatment (CM), genetic variants of circadian genes have been associated with increased vulnerability to develop BD. In this context, environmental factors such as CM may also contribute the susceptibility through alterations functioning biological clock linked modifications expression genes. study, we explored associations maltreatment, sleep quality, level comprehensive set lymphoblastoid cell lines from patients sample consisted 52 Caucasian euthymic diagnosis type 1 or 2. exposure was assessed Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), quality using Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. We measured 18 quantitative RT-PCR: ARNTL2, BHLHE40, BHLHE41, CLOCK, CRY1, CRY2, CSNK1D, CSNK1E, DBP, GSK3B, NPAS2, NR1D1, PER1, PER2, PER3, PPARGC1A, RORA, RORB. Gene networks were analyzed disjoint graphs method. Compared other investigated transcripts, PPARGC1A only one whose differentially affected who experienced and, more specifically, physical abuse. observed no significant effects CTQ subscores (emotional sexual abuses, emotional neglects), nor on network expression. Although requiring replication larger cohorts, result obtained here consistent hypothesis influence systems highlights importance these processes.

The sleep quality and prevalence of sleep disorders in adolescents
Sleep has a key role in the development of adolescents. Sleep is effective not only in physical growth, but also in behavior, emotion, cognition, attention, and school performance of adolescents. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the quality of sleep and the prevalence of sleep disorders in adolescents of Gonabad city. The statistical sample consisted of 1153 adolescents study...
متن کاملCircadian rhythms and sleep in bipolar disorder.
OBJECTIVE Biological rhythm pathways are highlighted in a number of etiological models of bipolar disorder, and the management of circadian instability appears in consensus treatment guidelines. There are, however, significant conceptual and empirical limitations on our understanding of a hypothesised link between circadian, sleep, and emotion regulation processes in bipolar disorder. The aim o...
متن کاملCircadian Rhythm Sleep Disorders
Though the theories on the reasons why humans need to sleep vary, there is no disagreement that sleep is essential to our wellbeing and survival. External and internal physiological parameters dictate our own individual body “clocks,” or circadian rhythms. Typically, this clock runs very close to a 24-hour cycle of sleep and wakefulness. However, for some individuals, this clock can be slightly...
متن کاملCircadian rhythm sleep disorders.
Circadian rhythm sleep disorders are common conditions manifested as misalignment between the sleep period and the physical/social 24-h environmental cycle. Delayed sleep phase (typical in adolescents) and advanced sleep phase (frequent in the elderly), situations in which the sleep period is displaced to a later or earlier time, respectively, are the two most prevalent circadian rhythm sleep d...
متن کاملMelatonin and Circadian Sleep Disorders
When administered to humans the pineal honnone me\atonin can phase shift a number of circadian rhythms. This property has prompted the investigation of exogenous melatonin in sleep disorders known to have an underlying chronophysiological basis (i.e. circadian rhythm sleep disorders). Both in field and simulated studies of jet lag and shift work suitably timed melatonin improved sleep and, in s...
